Job Description

Harvesting Laborers are the backbone of our seasonal operation. This role is responsible for manually harvesting crops efficiently and carefully to ensure the highest quality yield. The ideal candidate is physically fit, reliable, and able to work quickly and effectively as part of a team in various outdoor conditions.

Harvesting laborers Responsibilities

• Hand-Picking: Manually pick fruits, vegetables, nuts, or other crops according to the specific method required (e.g., twisting apples, cutting grape clusters, pulling carrots).
• Use of Tools: Safely operate basic hand tools like pruning shears, knives, clippers, and digging trowels to harvest crops without damaging them.
• Following Instructions: Work on assigned rows or areas as directed by the field supervisor to ensure systematic and complete harvesting.
• Quality Control: Identify and select only ripe, high-quality produce based on specific criteria like size, color, shape, and ripeness.
• Culling: Discard rotten, damaged, or unripe produce directly in the field to maintain quality standards.
• Keep cleaning equipment and tools in good working order and ensure supplies are properly stocked.
• Field Packing: Place harvested crops gently into bags, buckets, bins, or onto conveyor belts.
• Lifting & Carrying: Regularly lift, carry, and dump filled containers, which can weigh up to 40-50 pounds (18-23 kg).
• Stock refrigerators and salad bars with fresh ingredients
• Loading: Load packed bins or containers onto trucks, trailers, or pallets for transport from the field.
• Preparing Fields: Help with pre-harvest tasks like trellising plants, laying irrigation lines, or laying down protective ground cover.
• Collaboration: Work effectively as part of a team to meet daily collective harvesting goals and quotas.
• Communication: Report any issues to the supervisor, such as equipment problems, crop diseases, or safety hazards in the field.

Requirements

• Physical Stamina: Ability to perform strenuous manual labor for 8-10+ hours per day
• Physical Fitness Capacity to repeatedly bend, stoop, kneel, and squat.
• Strength & Mobility: Capable of frequently lifting, carrying, and loading items weighing 40-50 lbs (18-23 kg).
• Teamwork: Strong communication and collaboration abilities
• Time Management: Efficient and organized work approach
• Positive Attitude: Willingness to learn ,always smile and take direction
• Environmental Tolerance: Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, sun, rain, humidity, wind, and cold.
• Legal & Availability: Must have a valid passport
• No Experience Necessary: Most farms are willing to train motivated individuals. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are more important than prior experience.
