The Hotel Helper supports the housekeeping team in maintaining the overall cleanliness and appearance of the hotel. This is a vital behind-the-scenes role that ensures our housekeepers have the tools and resources they need to efficiently prepare guest rooms. The ideal candidate is a team player, takes pride in their work, and is committed to contributing to a positive guest experience.

Hotel Helpers' Responsibilities

• Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs efficiently
• Sorting & Racking: Scrape, sort, and rack dishes, glassware, and silverware correctly to maximize space and ensure proper cleaning.
• Quality Check: Inspect all items after washing to ensure they are clean, sanitized, and free of spots or food residue. Re-wash if necessary.
• Storage: Put away all clean items in their proper, designated storage areas throughout the kitchen and service areas. This is a continuous duty.
• Equipment Cleaning: Clean and sanitize external parts of kitchen equipment (e.g., grills, oven doors, fryer exteriors, ventilation hoods) after they have cooled down. May assist with internal cleaning during deep cleans.
• Floor Maintenance: Sweep and wet-mop kitchen floors multiple times during a shift to prevent slips and eliminate grease and debris. This is a constant task.
• Wall & Splash Area Cleaning: Wipe down walls, especially around cooking stations, to remove grease and food splatter.
• Restroom Maintenance: Clean and sanitize all public and staff restrooms regularly. This includes toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, and restocking soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Dining Area Support: Empty trash bins from the dining area and clean up significant spills as needed to support serving staff.
• Lost and Found and Guest Interaction :Collect and tag lost and found items; turn them in to the designated area.
• General Upkeep: Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces. Dust ledges and light fixtures.
• Safety and Compliance: Use cleaning chemicals safely according to training and manufacturer instructions.
• Recycling Management: Break down and properly dispose of cardboard boxes from deliveries.
• Floor Care: Perform a final thorough sweep and mop of the entire kitchen and back-of-house areas.
• Follow Safety Protocols: Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as rubber gloves, aprons, and non-slip shoes.
• Health Code Compliance: Adhere to all local health department codes and regulations regarding sanitation and food safety.
• Clean and maintain crew cabins, offices, and other crew facilities.
• Empty and clean wastebaskets and transport trash to designated disposal areas.
• Keep cleaning equipment and tools in good working order and ensure supplies are properly stocked.
• Utility cleaners specifically handle the daily cleaning and maintenance of the galleys, or kitchens, to uphold health and sanitation standards.

Hotel Helpers' Requirements

• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• Food Handling Skills: Basic knowledge of food safety (training provided)
• Cleaning Skills: Attention to cleanliness and sanitation standards
• Teamwork: Strong communication and collaboration abilities
• Time Management: Efficient and organized work approach
• Reliability & Punctuality: Must be consistently on time for all scheduled shifts. Attendance is critical for restaurant operations.
• Work Schedule Availability: Must have flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as these are the busiest times for restaurants.
• Legal Status: Must be legally eligible to work in the country and provide necessary documentation.
• Professional Demeanor: Must maintain a professional attitude and follow all company policies, including dress code and personal hygiene standards.
