Job Description

We are seeking a licensed and professional Commercial Truck Driver to deliver goods to our customers. The ideal candidate is a safety-conscious, reliable, and skilled driver with a strong understanding of DOT regulations. This role is responsible for transporting cargo over designated routes, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining the vehicle in excellent condition.

Special Offer

The first Truck Driver to apply will receive a $5 daily bonus package on top of the hourly pay .

Truck Driver Benefits

  • High Earning Potential: Truck driving often offers a higher-than-average salary without requiring a four-year college degree.
  • Flexible Schedule: You often have control over your working hours. Whether you're a night owl or an early bird, you can choose to work when you are most productive and creative.
  • Clear Compensation Structure: Pay is typically straightforward—either by the mile (CPM), by the hour, or as a percentage of the load. This transparency allows drivers to easily calculate their earnings.
  • Independence and Autonomy: Truck drivers, especially long-haul drivers, spend most of their day working independently without a supervisor looking over their shoulder. The cab of their truck is their office.
  • No "Desk Job" Monotony: The scenery is always changing. Drivers aren't confined to a cubicle and experience the open road, different routes, and new challenges daily.
  • Limited Work-Related Expenses: Drivers on the road have their essential expenses covered. Companies typically pay for fuel, truck maintenance, and tolls. Some companies also provide per diems for food.
  • Benefits Packages: Most full-time driving positions come with standard benefits like health insurance, retirement plans (401k), and paid time off.
  • Autonomy and Independence: You are your own boss. You have the freedom to choose the projects you work on, set your own rates, and develop your business as you see fit.
  • Modern Truck Amenities: Many companies now provide modern trucks equipped with comfortable sleeper berths, refrigerators, inverters, and satellite radio, making life on the road much more comfortable.
  • Strong Job Security: The economy runs on freight. There is a constant, high demand for qualified truck drivers to move goods across the country, making it a very stable career with low unemployment rates in the field.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO): A bank of hours that can be used for vacation, sick days, or personal time. Accrues with tenure.

Truck Drivers Responsibilities

  • Safely Operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV): This is the core duty. It involves controlling a large vehicle in all traffic, weather, and road conditions.
  • Conduct Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspections: Perform a thorough walk-around check of the truck and trailer (checking tires, brakes, lights, coupling systems, etc.) to identify any mechanical issues or safety hazards before and after each trip.
  • Plan Routes and Manage Logs: Plan efficient routes to meet delivery schedules. Accurately maintain and submit Electronic Logging Device (ELD) records to comply with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, which dictate how long a driver can be on and off duty.
  • Secure Cargo: Properly load and unload cargo, or verify its security if loaded by others.
  • Adhere to All Traffic and Safety Laws: Strictly follow all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company-specific safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor Vehicle Performance: Be constantly aware of the vehicle's condition while driving, listening for unusual noises and monitoring gauges for any problems.
  • Exercise Defensive Driving: Always be alert and anticipate the actions of other motorists to prevent accidents.
  • Comply with Weight Restrictions: Ensure the vehicle is within legal weight limits for axles and gross vehicle weight.
  •
  • Communicate Effectively with Dispatchers: Provide regular updates on location, progress, and any potential delays. Report any issues, such as mechanical problems or traffic, promptly.
  •
  • Perform Basic Maintenance: Conduct minor en-route repairs and maintenance, such as replacing lights, adjusting mirrors, tightening chains, and topping off fluids.
  •
  • Maintain a Clean Vehicle: Keep the truck's interior and exterior clean, which is a matter of professional pride and safety (e.g., clean windows).
  •
  • Report Mechanical Issues: Promptly report any vehicle defects or maintenance needs to the maintenance department or dispatcher.
  • Interact Professionally with Customers: Represent the company professionally during pick-ups and deliveries. This includes courteous communication and efficiently handling paperwork.
  • Manage Shipping Documentation: Accurately complete and handle all required paperwork, such as Bills of Lading, delivery receipts, and vehicle inspection reports (DVIR).

Truck Drivers Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License Class A CDL: Required for operating combination vehicles (e.g., a standard tractor-trailer with a semi-trailer).
  • Clean Driving Record: A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company and DOT safety standards.
  • Native or Near-Native Fluency Fluency in English is the single most important requirement.
  • Medical Certification: A current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (from a certified medical professional on the National Registry) proving the driver is physically qualified to operate a CMV.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years old to drive interstate (across state lines). Some intrastate (within one state) roles may hire at 18.
  • Clean Background Check: Ability to pass a pre-employment background check. Some companies, especially those hauling sensitive goods, may have stricter standards.
  • Drug & Alcohol Screening: Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be part of a random testing consortium, as per federal law.
  • Proven Driving Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of verifiable, recent commercial driving experience is a common requirement. (Some training positions may accept less).
  • Knowledge of Safety & Regulations: Strong understanding and ability to comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) rules.
  • Safe Driving Ability: Excellent driving skills with a proven safety record. This includes mastery of backing, turning, shifting, and maneuvering in tight spaces.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to perform the physical demands of the job.
  • Basic Competencies: Navigation Skills: Ability to use GPS, maps, and electronic logging devices (ELDs). Basic Math Skills: For calculating weights, distances, and fuel.
  • Punctuality and Reliability: Critical for meeting delivery windows.
  • Strong Work Ethic: Ability to work independently for long hours.
  • Customer Service Skills: For representing the company well at delivery points.
  • Long Hours: Adhering to HOS rules, but often working the maximum allowable hours.
  • Time Away from Home: For OTR positions, this can mean weeks on the road.
